  • About

Sistan and Baluchistan, two traditionally distinct regions, are now combined for administrative reasons into a single province, one of the largest and the driest in Iran. In the Shahnameh, the Iranian national epic completed by Ferdowsi in 1010, Sistan was the homeland of the great Iranian hero Rostam. Zahedan is the capital of the province and has a wonderful weekly farmers’ market/doshanbeh bazar. Chabahar is the southernmost city in Iran. Its bay opens out onto the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean.
