  • About
With ice cream in the freezer, it’s no trick to add topknots of it to individual servings. For a special treat, use homemade ice cream.
Here are four much praised recipes from our Freezing & Canning Cookbook. Use them to dress up your pies. Recommended storage time is up to 1 month.
Don’t get in a rut and use only vanilla ice cream. At least dress it up for taste surprises. Swirl a little prepared mincemeat through it and serve on apple pie. Stir crushed fresh or just-thawed frozen strawberries or red raspberries through the softened ice cream and serve on peach pie.
