In this chapter we look at the three main stages of wine production - in the vineyard, in the winery and in the winery cellar. Local factors such as soil type, climate and the timing of the harvest mean that no two vineyards are the same, which affects the individual style of each wine.
This is the reason that wine made from the same grape can taste different around the world. Understanding how and where wine is made is invaluable when identifying wine in a blind tasting, and for appreciating which types of wine you enjoy most.
