  • About
Punjabis are very passionate about food, and their regional dishes are popular around the world due to their incredible flavours and hearty ingredients. This area in northern India is particularly known for its dairy farming – ghee, cream, milk and yogurt are therefore key ingredients – so rich, buttery sauces and cooling, yogurt-based drinks are a common theme on Punjabi menus.

In the villages, many people still use traditional cooking methods and equipment. Punjabis are most famous throughout India for their tandoori-style cooking, which is named after the tandoor: a large, urn-shaped, wood-fired oven, usually made of clay. This produces the soft flatbreads and smoky kebabs that are so loved the world over. Tandoori Chicken is probably one of the most famous of these dishes and can be found.
