Around the World in 80 Dishes is our June #ckbkclub book

Summer travel from the comfort of your kitchen!  

David Loftus, one of the world’s leading food photographers, spends his (enviable) time traveling around the world visiting and photographing exotic locales for cookbooks and magazines. In Around the World in 80 Dishes, he’s pulled together a collection of international recipes inspired by trips with his famous food-loving friends and clients. It’s a gorgeous travelogue that takes us on a delicious journey mirroring Phileas Fogg's thrilling tour in Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days.

In the spirit of summer wanderlust, our team selected this book for our June #ckbkclub book, and you’ll love it too for its generous range of international dishes spanning breakfast, picnic lunch, dessert, and happy hour (everything from French Toast to Singapore Slings). Each recipe is accompanied by vibrant photography showcasing the very best from the author’s stops in London, Paris, Italy, Egypt, India, the South Pacific, Japan, United States and more. Recipes are offered up by a range of pro contributors including favorites like Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, Alice Waters, Deborah Madison, to name just a few.

In addition to our monthly book selection, #ckbkclub hosts two challenges each month to help you explore and cook your way through our vast collection of recipes and books. Here’s what on the agenda for June:

Strawberry Dessert Week: Friday June 7th – Thursday June 13th

Make the most of this seasonal delight and whip up something to satisfy your sweet-tooth using strawberries. Think Strawberry Shortcake or Strawberry Pie

Tip: Search for “strawberries” and use smart filters to find desserts. Add search terms like “strawberry ice cream” or “strawberry tart” to find something more specific

A dish inspired by your travels: Monday, June 24th—Sunday, June 30th

Think Pasta Carbonara from your trip to Rome, or Ceviche from your travels to Peru. 

Tip: Search for “recipes” and use the “cuisine” filter to find dishes from a particular country or search for “[country name] + [name of dish].”
