After some success in a fifteen year mission to climb the slippery pole that represents a career in advertising, Charles then spent several years re-inventing himself as a food writer. He wrote about food and restaurants in the London Evening Standard for over a decade. He has also written forThe Independent, The Times, The Weekend Telegraph, The Illustrated London News, BBC Good Food Magazine, Delicious, Bon Appetite in America, Country Life and the Times of India.... among othernewspapers and magazines! As for radio work he has appeared on Radio Four’s “The Food Programme” and as for television work he has appeared on Food and Drink, Hell’s Kitchen, each series of Masterchef, each series of Celebrity Masterchef, plus Professional Masterchef. He is a past winner of the Glenfiddich "Restaurant Writer of the Year" Award. He has written a number of cookery books and restaurant guide books. He is a regular judge at both the Great Taste Awards and the International Cheese Awards. He is a patron of Oxford Gastronomica, (part of Oxford Brookes University). He also supports Action Against Hunger– a charity that aims to put an end to malnutritionin children.
