Pascale Gomes-McNabb is a Melbourne-based designer and former restaurateur who, after designing and running six restaurants, now heads an award-winning design practice with a bent towards hospitality and residential projects. Her designs offer a curated environment – not just the built space, but the conception and production of custom furniture, lighting and objects to go within it. Each design considers and balances visual, functional and pragmatic elements. Pascale’s childhood was spent moving between Asia, Europe and Australia. As an adult, she completed a Bachelor of Architecture and lived in London, Chicago, Hong Kong and Shanghai, working in both architecture and hospitality, before returning to Melbourne and opening a restaurant -marrying her love of food and design. 'My life has always been this complete mix of both professions. I approach the design of a restaurant not only as a designer but also from an operator's perspective. Taking into consideration what is expected from the customer's side; comfort and interest and the functional requirements needed to operate a successful business. Whether commercial or domestic, I am curious about creating new forms of play between the tangible and intangible elements of a space.’
Pascale’s main focus is running her eponymous design practice, for which she has won several national and international awards.
