Take a bow to the power of the queen, whose status as a commanding royal figure is unchallenged on this plate. The chocolate intensity of this tart speaks of wanton lust and desire. A range of textures and layers merge to create a dark, moody, ethereal presence – much like the deep-aubergine coloured tulip of the same name. Blackberries are used to dramatic effect, but if they are not available, then choose another dark fruit such as mulberries, blood plums or blackcurrants.
