A very rich sauce ideal to serve hot with ice cream. It also works particularly well with waffles.

Ingredients

  • 1 vanilla pod, split lengthways
  • 450 ml (14¼ fl oz) cream

Method

  1. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla pod and add with the pod to a saucepan with the cream. Bring slowly to the boil, remove from the heat and allow the flavours to infuse into the cream, then strain and discard the vanilla pod.
