Lancashire born Martin Webb started his career in Manor house’s of the West Country in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire before heading to Londons Belfry Club and then onto learn Patissiere in Tignes, France. From France to Jersey in the Channel isles working with some of the best fish and seafood around the British isles. In 1982 Martin emigrated to Western Australia were he found a creative, competitive environment for his cooking. During the nine years in Perth Martin opened his first restaurant 'Cafe Polperro’ in Fremantle prior to the Americas cup to great acclaim. On returning back to London in 1991 he worked with Sir Terence Conran on the opening of the trend setting Le Pont de La Tour restaurant in the ‘gastronome’ complex by tower bridge. That followed his appointment as executive Chef to re open Sir Terence Conran’s famous restaurant , Quaglino’s. During this three and a half year period at the helm of Quaglino’s, Martin co-authored with Richard Whittington Quaglino’s : The cookbook and he has followed its success with a second book Fusion: a new look at Australian cooking. In 1997 Martin returned to Melbourne, Australia as Director of food and restaurants for Geroges The department store and several years later Opened The Boutique Mansion hotel a long with the Shadowfax Vineyard at Werribee Park. Over the last 20 years Martin has owned and operated several successful business’s including a small Wine Bar / Restaurant in a city laneway, along with his wife Sarimah a stylish Cafe in the suburb of Armadale and a lunch Bar in Hawkesburn village. Martin now works as a Consultant to the restaurant and catering Industry having spent the past 42 years working as a Chef, Manager and Restaurateur.
