Bridget Ann Henisch (1932-2020) received M.A. degrees from the Universities of Cambridge and London. She was a Lecturer in Medieval English Literature at the University of Reading, UK. Married in 1960, she moved to America in 1963 and studied as an independent scholar. From 1977 to 1990 she was an editorial associate of "History of Photography", an international quarterly edited by her husband, with whom she also wrote four books on photo-history, published between 1994 and 2002. On the subject of food in medieval society she wrote three books : "Fast and Feast" (1976), "The Medieval Calendar Year" (1999), and "The Medieval Cook" (2009). She also wrote one other book on food history: "Cakes and Characters; an English Christmas Tradition" (1984).
