Fiona Cairns is best known for baking the Wedding Cake for the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Katherine Middleton in 2011. It was then that Fiona’s relationship with the Royal Family began. The cake took five weeks to make and required a team of six to assemble. Following shortly after, Fiona was requested to design and bake an ornate crown cake which was displayed in the window at Harrods over the Queens Jubilee weekend. With her vast baking experience, Fiona loves the opportunity to impart her knowledge so that others can share her passion for baking. Her three books, ‘The Birthday Cake Book’, ‘Bake & Decorate’ (Quadrille) and her most recent book ‘Seasonal Baking’ (Orion) offer recipes and cake decoration techniques for bakers of all skill levels. Fiona also regularly appears as a contributor on shows such as; ITV1’s Alan Titchmarsh and CH4’s Paul Hollywood’s Pies and Puds as well as being a regular face of Waitrose TV. She also fronted her own 10 x 1 hour baking show called ‘The Home of Fabulous Cakes’ which transmitted on ITV1 and regularly attracted around 1 million viewers. Fiona established her brand over 28 years ago after she made a batch of miniature fruit cakes for friends one Christmas. Trained as both a graphic designer and a pastry chef, Fiona’s cakes were both beautiful and delicious - there was nothing like them on the market at the time. Fiona’s husband Kishore suggested she market them, and so Fiona Cairns Ltd was born. Their first order was for the Conran shop, the rest is history! A barn was converted into a bakery in Fiona’s garden, where a small team of bakers and decorators met orders from Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum and Mason. The brand now make over 1 million cakes every year and Fiona’s customers range from rock stars to royalty.
