Alexander “Lex” Rozin is a Professor in the Department of Music Theory, History, and Composition at West Chester University, having received his Ph. D. in music theory from the University of Pennsylvania where he studied with Eugene Narmour and Chris Hasty. His research combines the methods of music theory and analysis with the tools of experimental psychology. His primary interests include how music elicits emotional responses from moment to moment and in memory, music theory pedagogy, and the relationship between music theory and culinary theory. He is also a chef and member of the cooking duo, Rozca, which brings tasting menus to customers’ homes, making use of the most ancient and most avant-garde techniques, fusing cuisines from around the world. Rozca has cooked at Swarthmore College, the University Museum at the University of Pennsylvania, and the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia amongst other locations. Rozca also teaches cooking classes about modernist techniques.
