Combine apricots and ¾ c. water in saucepan. Bring to a boil and remove from heat at once. Drain, saving liquid. Measure liquid into cup and add water to make ¾ c.
Purée apricots in blender with a little of the measured liquid, or by putting through sieve or food mill. Return puréed apricots and cooking liquid to saucepan; bring to a boil.
