  • About
Indonesians don’t eat dessert per se. In fact, we’re more likely to share a plate of fresh fruit to cleanse our palates after a meal. But we do eat sweets and slurp sweet drinks all hours of the day!

Syrups, jellies, tropical fruit, coconut strips, and crushed ice are just some of the ingredients that go into the wide array of sweet drinks that can be likened to shaved ice desserts in other Asian cultures. An example of such a cold and refreshing treat is Es Teler. Es Alpukat is my take on the traditional avocado drinks that I’ve enjoyed on my trips back to Indonesia.
