Charles Shere

Charles Shere, writer and composer. Born Berkeley, California, August 20, 1935; grew up there and on a small farm in Sonoma County. Educated in public schools; graduated in English literature, University California, 1960. Active in radio, television, and newspapers as journalist and art and music critic, 1964-1988. Partner and director, Chez Panisse. Composer of opera, orchestral and chamber music; author of several books of criticism, travel, and memoir. Married to Lindsey Remolif Shere; three children.
