There has been a general consensus that the Chinese invented pasta but it isn’t conclusive because the actual pasta has never been found, although there have been machines discovered that could possibly have made pasta. Pasta has been around for thousands of years and in the beginning was eaten dry, maybe as a substitute for bread. It lasted a lot longer than bread because it was dry. The first record of pasta being boiled was actually from the Arabs and the first recipe using tomato sauce didn’t come out until 1839.
Pasta is loved and consumed by people all around the world. Pasta is easy to cook (most of the time) and can turn extremely simple ingredients into works of culinary revelation in the hands of a true pasta “craftsman”. With a history as tangled as a bowl of spaghetti, pasta is beloved worldwide no matter who actually made it first. What you will see in the following pages are some of the most creative chefs in the country presenting pasta from their own perspective in the culinary world.
