Croque-Monsieur

A popular French café snack, croque-monsieur is simply a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. The sandwiches are either lightly fried in butter or cooked in a sandwich iron. If the croque-monsieur is served with a fried egg on top, it becomes a croque-madame.
