While we heartily agree that Every Season is Soup Season, Ā there's no denying that warming autumn and winter soups have a special place in our heart as comfort food classics.
As recipe writer, food blogger, photographer, and the bookās author Shelley Westerhausen Worcel says:

āItās a soup book andĀ alsoĀ a book about cooking once and enjoying twiceāsometimes even three times! Itās about celebrating the ease of creating a big pot of food and reinventing that soup the next day to create a completely new dish.ā

IngredientĀ focus: clementines
According to most citrus specialists, the clementine is a variety of mandarināa type of citrus that has a peel that can be easily detached from the flesh. They were once known as ākid-glove orangesā as it was felt a lady could eat one without soiling her hands. The clementine itself is thought to be an accidental hybrid, created by Father ClĆ©ment Rodier in around 1900, in the garden of his orphanage in Algeria.Ā
Whatever the clementineās origin story, it now has a central role at Christmastime, gracing the toe of Christmas stockings, and on festive tables jolly with bowls of the vibrant orange sweet-tart fruit.
Enjoy them as they are, or use them in recipes that benefit from their subtle citrus fragrance. Try Seared Fennel & Clementine Salad, this Clementine, Cardamom & Hazelnut CakeĀ (pictured above),Ā or any of the recipes in this collection of 12 Ways with Clementines.
